Steps to solve simultaneous equations:

1. Choose the linear equation, express one of the unknowns in terms of the other unknown
2. Substitute the unknown formed into the non-linear equation
3. Simplify and solve the non-linear equation to obtain the values of the 1^st unknown
4. Substitute the values of the 1^st unknown found into the linear equation to obtain the 2^nd unknown.
